Match Review ACC Group A MD2 | Selangor FC vs Tampines Rovers FC

Selangor FC secured their first three points in the 2025/26 Shopee Cup™ after defeating Singaporean side Tampines Rovers FC 4-2 at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, yesterday.

Tampines Rovers defender Shuya Yamashita had the ball hit his own goal while trying to block Faisal Halim's shot, giving Selangor FC the opening goal in the 18th minute of the #SFCTRF match. Zach Clough then added a goal in the 29th minute after finishing off Chrigor Moraes' precise pass. Tampines Rovers reduced the gap before the break when Koya Kozama converted a penalty kick in first-half injury time.

After the second half resumed, Zach Clough played a pass to Faisal Halim, who then scored his third goal in the 54th minute, sending the MBPJ Stadium into a frenzy. Four minutes later, Moraes created another chance, this time for Alvin Fortes who added a goal in the 58th minute. Tampines Rovers FC again managed to score a goal in the 65th minute, however, the victory was in favor of the Red Giants squad with a result of 4-2.

According to the Head Coach of Selangor FC, Katsuhito Kinoshi, he felt that this victory showed that the team was at the best level of mentality.

“I am very proud of the players because they gave their best despite a fairly tight schedule. This victory proves that the players came with the best mentality for yesterday's match. These three points must be very meaningful for the team, especially because we get to play against great teams in such an international tournament. This experience will make the team stronger and they have worked hard to be here. We will continue to work hard together to ensure more positive results throughout this season,” he stressed.

So far, Selangor FC has managed to top Group A of the 2025/26 Shopee Cup™, sharing four points with BG Pathum United F.C. in second place, but with a one-goal difference. Tampines Rovers FC is third, Công An Hà Noi FC fourth, Buriram United F.C. fifth and Cebu FC sixth.
